Something Old, Something New

Spider Monkey

Street Scene

Woman and Banana

These are a few more of my older works, recolored, or perhaps not, for this new blog.  My skills keep increasing as I commit time and effort to improving my drawing and Photoshop knowledge.

I'm even going to attend a local art school opening up soon.

I feel like in 2019, I haven't been creating that much new stuff, only reinventing old works from the second half of 2018.  My imagination needs stimulation, and I need to commit some serious time to drawing, not to social media or other wastes of time...

The Future of the Human Race...

lies in the past.  You see, this is not the first human race.  It is not the first earth.  And it's not even the first universe.  God has created and destroyed, and recreated the universe over and over again.  This era of the universe is reaching an end.

Morality is at an all time low, Christianity is dead, Jews are openly laughed at.  The prevailing dharma of this era was judeochristianity, and it is reaching it's end.  So what do we have to look forward to?

I hope that there is some truth to the Messiah concept of the Jews.  And we all know by now that Jesus was not the Messiah.  He failed and died, and the God of Israel, the Creator, does not send a losing king.  He sends a winner.

It seems we cannot trust a charismatic leader, they've all failed so far.  Each world religion promises peace, yet none have delivered.  And political leaders are worse than ordinary men, not better.  Look at Donald Trump.  I'd trust a 15 year old black boy with my wallet before I trust him.

All religions, all leaders, all political systems have failed.  It says in Job 33 'God is far greater than mortal man'.

I'm not a prognosticator nor a prophet, so I don't know what is coming.  I don't know the future.  And I don't believe in Moschiach, Jesus, the Mahdi, Matreya Buddha, nor Kalkin, nor anything else religion and mythology can dream up.  And I know how at our hearts, we are all corrupt children.

All I know is I have done my sentence, but committed no crime.  I've done nothing wrong, no harm to anyone and yet I suffer.  It's as if the universe is unfair.

All I can do is learn to wisen up, to grow more content with what I already have, and not fantasize about what hollywood promises me.  Fancy cars, houses, trophy women, fame, honor, respect, wealth, jobs, careers, are all vanity.  All I possess is this human frame (and I must say I am handsome!) and my few things I use on a daily basis.  And that is enough.

Amor

Mexican Pyramid Redone

Nobody loves as intensely as the latin woman.  They seem to ripen under the sun of central and south America to a fine brown and be juicy when bitten.

Love and attention is what everyone is seeking, and what God wants us to have.  But Adam Kadmon, the first man, ruined it all when he and his wife listened to the serpent and disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden.

This is not a myth.  Life began in Mesopotamia, originally in idyllic conditions, and ever since the fall from Grace, man has had to contend with death, illness, violence, crime, infidelity, false religious views, etc...

All I want is a lover, and yet, I live in the lowest socioeconomic bracket in America, in NY, which is a very regressive, old money dominated, and classist part of the country.  I can only dream....

West Same Stupid As The East

When I was younger, I was enchanted with the mystery of the Orient.  The Far East.  What we call today, East Asia.  Their culture was certainly advanced, it produced the Tale of Genji, Zen Buddhism, Taoism, beautiful paintings and calligraphy, karate and judo, all manners of popular cuisine, etc...

I read a book of Chinese proverbs when I was young, and later on in youth, studied the Tao Te Ching, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Judo, and Manga.  The east has a lot to offer.

But now as I mature, I remember one Chinese medicine teacher saying, 'west same stupid as the east' in regards to pop music and how the sentience is rooted in the heart and not the brain.  And it stoned me.  Maybe I've overlooked Western culture a bit over the years?

The West, especially the Ancient Greeks, formed the foundation of all world culture, not just Europe and later North America.  I am only now starting to acquaint myself with the wisdom and practical use of the Stoics.  And pinterest helps a lot with that.  Instead of reading Plato, Aristotle, or any other Hellenic Greek philosopher, I can get quotes from pinterest and it saves me time.

I've always been a fan of Nietzsche, ever since I first read a Kaufman translation in SUNY Stonybrook in 1997.  But now he is my hero.  He lived in the 1800's but began his studies as a professor of Greek and Roman Philosophy, the classics of Western culture.  Nietzsche was deep.  And he had a sense of humor and a knack for brevity.  All good qualities.

Some Eastern stuff is over-rated.  Like vegetarianism, which is rooted in sympathy for animals and the belief that we may reincarnate as animals, or animals may reincarnate as humans.  But the mystics of Judaism know that a human soul is not something sought after, it is something created, and animal souls are lower than human souls.  So eating meat is a good deed, not a murder of an innocent animal.  When we eat meat, we spiritually elevate a low soul into the body of a human being.  And human beings are the apex of creation, beginning with Adam Kadmon, the first man.

There are a hundred flaws in Eastern culture and civilization and my point is not to bash anyone.  My point is to say, the West has a rich culture that should not be overlooked when seeking the mysterious.  Neither should Africa or the culture of the Americas before Columbus and Cortez.

In conclusion, I would like to quote Shakespearre who said, 'there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamed of in your philosophy.'  He meant, truth is stranger than fiction.  What God created is vastly superior to anything man can create.  So let us sit back and wonder at his marvelous design.

I want to end this post with a picture, a picture I drew, as a token of this little blog post.  Something to remember it by.

Shaman and Drum

This simple drawing with a gradient background is my copy of a 18th century wood engraving by a European and their interpretation of a native American shaman doing a ritual dance.  At once, it spans Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and we all know the Africans are no strangers to ritual and possession either.  Shamans led primitive society.  That is all for now.

Something New, Something Old

Black and White Drawings

I made a video of my best black and white drawings from over the past year or so, set to my most popular song.  This song is an instrumental, and the title is, 'Lonely Instrumental'.  Very bluesy.

Transitions...

Jet Fighter

China Gate

Chloe's Window

Fierce Woman

I'm transitioning away from martial arts, nutrition, and taoist philosophy, since none of it is realistic anyway, and moving towards art, design, cartooning, and aesthetics.  I have two educations, the first in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the other in graphic design.

While I am a healer and a martial artist, I'd rather explore the world through the eyes of an artist.  This simple kind of art, combined with today's technology, lends itself to the blending of all art forms.

I like drawing, design, writing, music, philosophy, and poetry, and in today's world, I can make something of myself.  There's an audience out there for what I teach.

So here are my four latest works, ranging from years ago to months ago, but only recently colored in Photoshop.

Jet Fighter is a cartoonish interpretation of a Roy Lichtenstein work.  China Gate incorporates symbolism from Ancient China and Taoism.  Chloe's Window is based on a photo a friend sent me on Facebook.  And Fierce Woman is something I drew when I was in Israel in September 2015, but only colored a few days ago.

My life is improving as I discover new things, things that were meant for me, or at least as I get older.

I am discovering art, stoic philosophy, Paleo diet, tai chi, qi gong, yoga, and all the while, I can hear the thumpin of John Lee Hooker's guitar...
